Zhang Wei (known in English as "Will Zhang") is the founder and CEO of LimX Dynamics (逐际动力), a Shenzhen-based humanoid and quadruped robot company founded in 2022. He is also a tenured professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen.
Zhang earned his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University, did postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley, and joined Ohio State University in 2011, where he became a tenured associate professor. He returned to China in 2019 to join SUSTech, and three years later founded LimX Dynamics.
LimX is one of the few Chinese humanoid makers built on deep motion-control research rather than AI-platform assembly. Its quadruped and wheeled-legged robots have been deployed in industrial inspection and automotive scenarios, and the company raised a Series A round co-led by automotive and industrial investors in 2024, followed by tens of billions in 2026 funding that pushed its valuation toward the ten-billion-yuan range. Zhang's stated ambition is to make LimX the "NVIDIA of embodied intelligence" — a platform layer rather than just a robot maker.
