About

About China Robotics Insider

An independent English-language guide to China's robotics industry — who builds it, what they build, and how it all came to be.

What this site is

China is now the world's largest robotics market and its most crowded robotics startup battleground — yet most of the story is told in Chinese. China Robotics Insider exists to make that story accessible in English: the founders and entrepreneurs, the companies and startups, the development history, and the products defining the frontier.

What we cover

  • History — from China's first robot in 1980 and the 863 Program to the humanoid mass-production era.
  • People — the pioneering scientists, professors and a new wave of 20-something PhD founders.
  • Companies — humanoid unicorns, industrial giants, service-robot exporters and component suppliers.
  • Products — the hardware actually shipping today, from humanoid sprinters to dexterous robotic hands.

Editorial standards

We strive for accuracy over hype, and we are transparent about the limits of our data:

  • Facts are sourced. Figures such as shipments, valuations and market share come from company disclosures, financial filings, official media and industry research. Where definitions vary between sources (for example, what counts as a "humanoid robot"), we note it.
  • We distinguish facts from estimates. Early-stage industry data is often approximate; we flag uncertainty rather than hide it.
  • We correct ourselves. If you spot an error, please tell us — accuracy is the foundation of trust in this industry.
  • No pay-for-coverage. We do not accept payment to cover or omit any company. Coverage reflects editorial judgment.

Disclaimer
