China's Harmonic Drive Manufacturers, Ranked

Harmonic reducers are the joints of every robot arm. China spent a decade localizing them — here is the supplier list that now powers the world's fastest-growing humanoid industry.

A harmonic reducer is the tiny gearbox that gives a robot joint its smooth, precise motion — and for years China imported nearly all of them from Japan's Harmonic Drive Systems. That era is over. This is the 2026 list of China's harmonic drive manufacturers, who they supply, and who is winning.

The leader: Leaderdrive (Green Harmonic)

Guangzhou's Leaderdrive (绿的谐波, 688017.SH) is China's largest harmonic reducer maker and the closest domestic match to Japan's Harmonic Drive. It ships millions of reducers a year into industrial robots, collaborative arms and now humanoid joints. If a Chinese humanoid has a harmonic joint, there is a good chance Leaderdrive made it.

The challenger: Laifual Drive

Shaoxing's Laifual Drive (来福谐波) is the main domestic challenger, competing on price and supply security. It has expanded from bare reducers into integrated actuator modules — motor + reducer + encoder in one package — which is exactly what humanoid builders want to bolt straight into a joint.

The specialists and incumbents

 • Haozhi Mechanical (昊志机电): Guangzhou maker of harmonic reducers and precision spindles, strong in both robots and CNC.
 • Double-Ring (双环传动): the RV-reducer leader, pivoting part of its capacity into harmonic and roller-screw lines for humanoids.
 • Qinchuan (秦川机床): the machine-tool elder that makes RV reducers with its own gear-cutting machines.
 • Zhongda Leader (中大力德): Ningbo precision-gearbox maker strong in planetary and RV reducers.

Japan vs China: the cost gap

Why it matters: humanoids need dozens of precision joints per unit. China's ability to supply those joints domestically — from Leaderdrive's harmonic reducers to Double-Ring's screws — is the single biggest structural advantage in the humanoid cost war. Anyone sourcing parts for a Chinese humanoid should be talking to these names.

The takeaway: China has gone from importing every precision reducer to exporting the supply chain. For procurement teams and investors, Leaderdrive is the anchor, Laifual the agile challenger, and the incumbents (Double-Ring, Qinchuan, Zhongda) are the deep bench.
